CHECKLIST FOR ALL COACHES
Below are the steps to complete your coaching registration with Falls Rec Hockey:
PLEASE NOTE: Coaches cannot step on the ice to coach until they have completed the following: USA Hockey Registration, Background screening, Safesport Training, Concussion Training and age specific module. Your Coaching Clinic training needs to be completed by December 31st or you will not be allowed on the bench after that date. MN Hockey is handing out fines and suspensions for coaches out of compliance with certifications and lack of locker room attendants.

NEW for 25-26 Season:
COACHES
- All coaches are required to have CEP Training (clinic) completed by January 1 of the current season. Online age-modules, Safe Sport training and background screen are required prior to participation as a coach. For more information on coaching certification, click here
- NEW as of 2025-26 Season, all information will be found at the new USA Hockey Learning Center: https://lms.usahockeylearningcenter.com
- To access the new USA Hockey Learning Center, you must use a new single sign on (SSO) process. If you have not already set up your SSO, follow the steps below.
PLAYERS (Birth year 2008 & Older)
- Players, 2008 birth year and older, that are going to be participating with minor players are required to complete the Safe Sport training annually. If you are participating in an Adult Hockey Program as a player, training is not required.
- NEW as of 2025-26 Season, to complete your Safe Sport requirement, you must use a new single sign on (SSO) process. If you have not already set up your SSO, follow the steps below.
TO SET UP SSO PASSWORD
- Leave the Username blank and enter primary email address (the one listed above), click send verification code
- Check your email to receive verification code from Microsoft; Subject: Member Services, USA Hockey Account email verification code
- Enter the verification code, make sure there are no spaces before or after the code, click on Verify Code button, continue
- Enter your SSO Username, continue
- Create a password, continue
- Congratulations, your account is now ready for use

- Complete the National Level (NCSI) Background Screening (every 2 years)
NCSI Background Screening
$30 Fee for domestic screens. For international screens (members who have lived outside of the U.S. for six consecutive months in any one country during the past 7 years) the fee in $150. If that country is solely Canada, the fee is $75.
- Complete the USA Hockey Online Safesport Training (every season)
USA Hockey Online Safesport Training
Once you have completed the Core SafeSport Course, there will be a Refresher Course available for individuals who have previously completed the core SafeSport course and need to recertify. Users completing the SafeSport refresher course will be certified for an additional season.
- If your coaching card has expired, you have until December 31st to take a coach certification clinic to get it current. Don't wait until the last minute! Clinics start on September 1st. You can view the clinic schedule and register online. USA Hockey CEP Clinic Training You will not be rostered if your card is expired.
- Complete all the applicable age-specific modules. The modules are on the USA Hockey website and are available from September 1st thru December 20th. USA Hockey Online Age-Specific Module
Reimbursements: You may submit a coaches reimbursement form for fees incurred for required training.

Please turn in all of your printed registrations #'s for each one to the USA Hockey Registrar, Shana Guziec or email simply them to shanahockeyscheduler@hotmail.com.
You can check your status for certifications at the following site to view your coaches certification level and outstanding requirements needed to coach this season: https://cepsearch.usahockey.com
If you have On-Ice Helpers they will need to also register here as a coach and provide their USA Hockey Number, complete SafeSport and background before any on ice activities. They will register as a volunteer in USA Hockey and complete a background check along with the safe sport training. They may not be on benches with kids during games.
